Christmas Holiday in Savonlinna Region 

You can spend a traditional and quiet Finnish Christmas holiday in Savonlinna region. Many companies are providing traditonal Finnish Christmas programmes, like picking up the chistmas tree, visit to Christmas Day's morning church, relaxing in Christmas sauna, a lot's of good food and of course the visit of our Santa Claus.

The area is lively also during the whole December. You can take part of the christmas handicraft workshops in Taito Shop, enjoy Finnish "little christmas parties" in the local restaurants and resorts, eat local christmal dinner, stop by in Inkerintalo christmas pancake cafe, sing christmas songs in karaoke, visit small chrismas markets and chrismas concerts. Winter in Savonlinna Region 

The winter season in Savonlinna region begins normally in December, but for the winter activities the best season is between middle of Janyary and middle of March. There are plenty of things to do: tourskating on the Lake Saimaa, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, winter swimming, snow mobiling, winter hiking and biking or just relaxing on the camp fire or in your own private cottage with traditional Finnish sauna.  

SaimaaHoliday Oravi is located next to the Linnansaari national park in where you can go for a winter hiking, tour skating, biking, snow shoeing and guided snow mobiling trips. You can stay overnight in a private villa or in a cosy apartment hotel.

On the other side of the Linnansaari national park is located Nature Hotel & Spa Resort Järvisydän and new Kuru Resort. In the both of these places, you can relax or have an active winter holiday. You can pamper yourself in the Lake Spa or Sisley Day Spa and choose an accommodation for the big selection of different kind of options. 

Punkaharju Ridge area offers also plenty of things to do in winter. From Harjun Portti Holiday Village you can rent tourskates, skiis and snow shoes and enjoy the skating on ca. 16 km long natural ice skating track, ski along the over 30 km of cross coutry skiing tracks and snow shoe and bike on the hilly routes of the ridge area.  

Health Resort Kruunupuisto is also located in the beautiful Punkaharju ridge area and they provide nature activities also around the year. They are also renovating their spa area, which should be ready in February-March 2023.

Charming Sahanlahti Resort is located in Puumala village and is known of their own special ice sauna! What could be better that take an ice sauna, smoke sauna or a traditional lakeside sauna after an active winter outdoor day.

You can also stay in a rental cottage in winter, and experience a wide variery of winter activities in the Savonlinna region from you cottage by car. From your lakeshore cottage, you can try ice fishing or just a walk on the frozen lake. See our cottage options.
